Albert worked in the train engineering works at Stratford and was blinded in one eye due to accident at work. At one point he got ulcers on his leg and was treated with penicilli when it was in its early days as part of a trial. He was also a lay preacher in the Baptist church in Manor Park. For much of their life they lived in a bungalow at 39 Brownlea gardens. (according to Mary Milburn 2018).
